- Take the classes your high school requires, choosing honors and advanced classes whenever possible.
- Focus on getting the best grades possible! Getting A's and a few B's should be your number one priority.
- See a tutor at least once a week to make sure you're understanding what's going on in class and you are building a good base in the math, reading, and writing skills you'll need for standardized tests and college.
- Develop good study habits and study skills now -- you'll need them for the rest of your life! A great tutor can show you the ropes.
- Choose classes that you think are interesting - art, band, drama, photography, business, fashion design, anything!
- Join a few extracurricular activities that sound fun and challenging. Don't worry about joining clubs that sound impressive to others but boring to you -- this is YOUR opportunity to discover what you love.
- Surround yourself with positive friends who are going in the same direction as you. Your time is valuable and you have big goals -- don't spend any time with people who will derail your plans!
